Job Summary: We are currently seeking a qualified Fire Sprinkler Designer. Duties include ability to estimate and design new construction and tenant finish. This position is responsible for design work to include design layout, field checking, fabrication listing, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, applicable installation requirements, and close out procedures. The Designer is knowledgeable of the design software and industry codes and follows industry design practices to produce a cost efficient system that is cost effective to install and meets the customer’s needs and code requirements. The Designer follows processes and procedures efficiently and effectively to Empire Fire Protection’s expectations to ensure accuracy, quality, and customer and field satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities include the following:

  • Generating and submitting plans for State or Municipality review
  • Generating As-built drawings and O&M manuals
  • Providing technical assistance to customers and field personnel
  • Coordinating and problem resolution with architecture, structural, and other trades
  • Creating equipment manuals
  • Resolving all change requests and problems related to design
  • Working directly with customers and project engineers to produce finished drawings
  • Assisting with project estimates
  • Calculating equipment sizes
  • Listing for Fabrication
  • Extensive knowledge of various types of Sprinkler Systems
  • Knowledge of all NFPA codes and standards
  • Communicate in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to complete site surveys and identify code issues and solutions
  • Must take pride in your work, have a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Job Requirements and Qualifications – The ideal candidate has the following:


Education, training, experience:

  • Associate’s degree in architectural engineering, engineering technology or related field
  • 3-5 years of fire protection design experience
  • Prior Field Experience will be an asset
  • Must be Nicet Level II or III Water-Based (formerly Automatic Sprinkler) Systems Layout
  • Understanding of building codes and NFPA standards
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • Must Pass Drug Screen – We Are A GA Certified Drug Free Company
